How I Work & What to expect if you choose to access support with me
Welcome, if you are thinking of having counselling then please read on to understand how I work and if you are struggling in anyway please know that I am here to help and support you to better understand how to feel like yourself again, whatever it is you are going through.

I am a fully qualified Counsellor and I have worked providing counselling & support across a variety of job roles for over 9 years.
The Counselling that I offer will be built around your needs, desires and areas of concern. We will build a safe and trusting relationship where you can bring your whole self without fear of shame, blame or judgement.
You do not need to be in crisis or feeling low or down, sometimes counselling can just be a safe place to better understand why you do the things you do, to support you through life transitions or to have dedicated time to just hear yourself think!
I embody what it means to be trauma informed and I am critical of the pathologisation of human distress - your emotional response is not a cause of a 'disease' and you are not disordered.
If we work together, I will centre your lived experience and I will use this to anchor us and all the work we do and I have the capacity to share relevant psychoeducation, grounding and stabilisation for affective trauma processing where needed.
I remain curious, open and willing to learn from all who I work with and I trust that I can walk alongside you helping you create a life that you are proud of, which aligns with your values & where you feel you can truly be yourself (maybe for the first time ever).

My career so far has had me specifically supporting survivors of sexual violence, individuals who are experiencing suicidal ideation and those who identify as having serious mental health concerns who feel they have been 'written off' by mental health services.
So, if your concerns do fall within these parameters, you can contact me with confidence knowing I have experience within these specific areas.

If we decide to work together after this introductory sessions then I will introduce my pay what you can afford sliding scale, subsidised rates and pay it forward option.
My vision for the future of Roots & Wings is that it will be a Community Interest Company with a counselling service that provides long term free and low cost counselling for the people of Carmarthen.
